英语单词 “shore、coast” 和 “bank” 都与水体的物理特征有关 —— they're words related to physical features found by bodies of water. 这三个词在英语里通常可以互换使用，但它们之间确实有一些细微的差别。

 

我们通常用 “shore” 这个词来指 “湖、海或宽阔的河流边缘的陆地”，但不能用 “shore” 来描述小溪或池塘旁边的河岸。下面来举几个例子。

最后，我们来看名词 “bank”。“bank” 所描述的是位于水体旁，尤其是沿河的坡地、高地，也就是 “河堤、海堤，河岸”。注意，“bank” 高于水位，所以水被控制在河岸之间。包含 “bank” 的两个常用词：一个是 “riverbank（河岸）”。举个例子： wildflowers are growing all along the riverbank. 沿河岸边长满了野花。
